Niranta Gohain born in Natun-Rangagora,a periphery village of Dibru-Saikhowa National Park has beenengaging in eco-tourism activities and nature conservation since 2000. For him the ecology of Dibru-Saikhowa has been his abode since his childhood and since then has been a conservationist. In 2000, Gohain decided to take to entrepreneurship to promote the enchanting beauty of Maguri-Motapung Beel and opened an eco camp at Dhola in Tinsukia of Assam in 2004. It was the first private tourism venture in Saikhowa Range of Dibru-Saikhowa National Park.
In 2007 he established Wave Ecotourism in Rangagora around the pristine surroundings of Dibru-saikhowa National park has succeeded in tapping the limitless potential of tourism with eco-friendly measures.He has excellent endeavour in utilizing our eco system by opening his Wave Ecotourism project in Tinsukia and Chandubi. He is not only the sole beneficiary of his pioneering endeavour. The local villagers have aptly garnered the benefit of eco- tourism through his project--- some as tourist guides for domestic and foreign tourists, some as boatmen and some other by cooking local delicacies for the tourists.
Moreover, he feat in converting the poachers into the friends of Dibru-Saikhowa National Parkis really admirable. He have accomplished a commendable task of engaging youths who have gone astray and bringing them into the mainstream arena of work.
In 2011, Former Chief Minister of Assam Mr. Tarun Gogoi appreciated him for his pioneering endeavour.
In 2016, Government of Assam awarded him as a Best Environmental Activist in the state.
